The study found that after hypochlorous acid irrigation, the ear canal effluent score decreased from 2.55 to 0, while the ear canal effluent score of the control group decreased from 2.4 to 0, indicating that the hypochlorous acid treatment regimen was effective. After hypochlorous acid cleaning treatment, the stones and foreign bodies in the ear canal can be effectively patted out without causing damage to the tympanic cavity.
In summary, this study confirmed that hypochlorous acid, as a new and effective flushing solution and antibacterial agent, can be directly applied to the irrigation and cleaning of the ear canal in dogs, and has a good effect on the treatment of chronic external otitis in dogs. It can remove pathogens and foreign bodies causing external otitis, reduce inflammation and discomfort, and will not cause any side effects to dogs.
